Superbugs, Covid-19 and the Media

After three years of research, I am a published author in the American Journal of Undergraduate Research (AJUR).

The article, "Reporting on Antibiotic Resistance in Two US Newspapers Before and During Covid-19," was written by myself, Zach Weisenstein and Amanda Greene, PhD, MPH, and was advised by Professor Emerita Sharon Friedman.

Through this project, we searched databases and analytically coded approximately 300 articles from two major news outlets, The New York Times and The Washington Post. We then assessed the news coverage of antibiotic resistance, a looming, slow-moving health crisis, before and during the Covid-19 pandemic.
We also communicated the relationship between Superbugs, Covid-19 and the media at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) conference in 2022.

This paper is the culmination of years of learning and hard work. I am grateful to have been a part of this project and so glad to finally share it with the world.
